Career & History
After Produce 101, the predebut track "Crush" was released on April 5th. A music video for the song was released on the same day. However, after small controversies on screen time for the members, the video was taken down and a different version with small changes were uploaded in its place.
I.O.I debuted May 4th, 2016 with EP Chrysalis and its title track "Dream Girls".
On August 9th, 2016 they released their single "Whatta Man". Only 7 of the original 11 members participated in this single due to some of the members debuting or continuing promotions with groups under their company. Sejeong, Mina, Yeonjung, and Jung Chaeyeon were the members unable to participate.
On January 18th, 2017 I.O.I released their final single, "Downpour". I.O.I won 1 music show with "Downpour". They officially disbanded, but promised fans they would come back as a group for a reunion in the future.
In September of 2019, there were talks that I.O.I would be having a comeback later in the year. It was said that Somi and Yeonjung would be left out of the comeback due to their schedules. However, as time went on, the comeback date was pushed back, Yoojung went on hiatus, Kyulkyung announced she would be unable to participate due to her activities in China, and fans' doubt grew.
It has been revealed that the members will reunite on May 4 to celebrate their 5th anniversary called "I.5.I - Yes, I Love It!". However, Kyulkyung and Mina will not attend at the reunion, since Kyulkyung is in China and Mina is filming for a upcoming TV drama.
